Over 17,000 people are set to benefit from the Nyangoro Maktau water supply project which is jointly funded by European Union through Water Trust Fund ,and the county government of Taitataveta.
Speaking after official ground breaking and handing over the project to the contractor, the governor assured the residents that his administration is commited towards addressing the perrinial water shortage in the county.
“My administration will continue partnering wit
h donors to make sure water is available to all,” he said.
Governor samboja added that the time for using water as a campaign tool in the area is over.
“This project marks the end of using water as a to
ol to gain votes, ” he added.
The county boss urgerd the contractor to make sure locals are considered for jobs during the project implementation.
“I don’t want to see you importing people to come and do the jobs when we have enough manpower in the county. Give the jobs to our people,” stressed the governor.
The project project costs Sh.88.6 million with the county government contributing 13% of the total cost and is set to be complete in 5 months time.
Deputy governor Majala Mlagui appealed to the residents to support the project and also protect the water catchments.
The governor is accompanied by CEO Water Trust Fund Mr.Ismail Shaiye, CECM Esther Mkaiwawi,CCO Sylvanus Mwakoma, Tavevo MD David Ndurya,Tavevo board of directors led by chair Houghton Mombo, finance CEC Andrew Kubo among other leaders.
