Wundanyi, Wesu and Mwatate are expected to continue to benefit from a clean water initiative under the auspices of TAVEVO Water and Sewerage Co. Ltd.
This is after TAVEVO received a 20,000kg consignment of Aluminium Sulphate from the United Nations Children Fund UNICEF. Aluminium Sulphate is used in the three areas for water purification. The other areas will continue to recieve clean and safe water that is chlorinated.
The donated compound is a vital ingredient in the water purification process.
Speaking while receiving the consignment at TAVEVO offices in Voi, the CECM in charge of Water, Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources Esther Mwanyumba stated how the County Government of Taita Taveta County is geared up for collaborative efforts with the National Government to ensure more donors come on board to accelerate development activities at County level.
” It is with gratitude that I commend H.E. Governor Granton Samboja’s drive towards making strides to enable residents of Taita Taveta County have easy access to clean water ,” she said.
This is in line with Sustainable Development Goal SDG 6 which calls for ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. In attendance was TAVEVO’s Technical Officer Merzden Mwangemi, Business Development,Commercial Services and ICT Manager Richard W. Kibengo and Water Quality Officer, Daniel Dena among others.
